At Greenwood County Hospital, we realize that spending time with your loved one is important to the healing process. Any person who plays a significant role in our patient’s life is not only welcome to visit the patient, but we deeply encourage that visitation.

Visitor Policies

If you have a cold or respiratory infection, please postpone your visit for the safety of your loved one and the rest of our patients. If you cannot visit your loved one in the hospital, you can call, write or send packages to them.

  • General Visitor Policies

    Our visitor policies have been carefully considered and are in place to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients. Our general policies are:

    • We ask that you avoid interference with the duties of the professional staff.
    • You may be asked to leave the room during the routine care of your loved one in order to maintain privacy.
    • Visitors may be asked not to bring food to patients unless prior arrangements have been made with the nursing staff. 
    • Visitors should not congregate in patient care areas. 
    • Children under 12 years of age may visit when accompanied by an adult. 
  • Visiting Hours

    General Visiting Hours:  8:00 am to 8:00 pm

    • The number of visitors in a patient room is generally limited to four, although some areas limit visitors to two at a time. Please check with the nurse on duty for details.
    • In some instances, a caregiver may be allowed to stay with the patient overnight.
    • All minor patients must have a parent or guardian stay with them at all times.
    • Patients who are receiving end of life care will have no restriction on hours or age of relatives who wish to visit during this time.
    • Children under 12 years of age must always be accompanied by an adult.
  • Visitor Responsibilities

    Greenwood County Hospital is committed to providing a safe, healing environment for patients and their loved ones. To make this possible, we need your assistance in the following ways:

    • Patient bathrooms are for patient use only. As a visitor, please use the public restrooms.
    • Occasionally, our patients must share rooms. As a result, items in the room may belong to another individual. Please be respectful of the property of other persons and of the hospital.
    • Quietness is a priority at Greenwood County Hospital. In our efforts to provide a restful, healing environment, the following items are prohibited: 
      • Alcoholic beverages
      • Disruptive or violent behavior
      • Smoking
      • Street drugs
      • Weapons
    • We understand that hospitals can be noisy. We ask that you help control noise by:
      • Speaking softly
      • Placing your cell phone on vibrate
      • Minimizing the number of visitors in your loved one’s room at one time
  • Smoking Policy

    Greenwood County Hospital is a healing environment. For the health of our entire community, our hospital is a tobacco-free campus. The use of all tobacco products and electronic nicotine devices is prohibited everywhere on our property.
