Swing Bed Program At Greenwood County Hospital In Eureka KS

GWCH Swing Bed Program, Eureka, KSSkilled Care Before Leaving the Hospital

For patients who need skilled care prior to transitioning to home or a long-term care facility, Greenwood County Hospital provides our Swing Bed Program. Patients stay in regular hospital rooms and no longer receive acute care but rather skilled care.

About Our Swing Bed Program

  • Available Levels of Care for Inpatient Services

    • Skilled Swing Bed: The Skilled Swing Bed option is a less acute level of care than a typical hospital stay. It is available for patients requiring some skilled medical service (Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, IV therapy, wound care, etc.) that cannot be given at home.
    • Intermediate Swing Bed: The Intermediate Swing Bed option is for patients who require longer-term care but do not require the level of care provided by the Skilled Swing Bed option. This service is a cash-only service as it is not covered by insurance. The care team determines the appropriateness of this level of care and stays for the Intermediate Swing Bed option are usually limited to 90 days.
  • Patient Activities

Our patients admitted to either Swing Bed program option are invited to join many activities organized by our Social Services Department. Patients can participate in crafts, hair appointments, games and much more!

Patients in the Swing Bed Program are encouraged to participate in daily hygiene activities and dress in regular clothing each day. These types of activities prepare the patient to return home with minimal to no assistance upon discharge.
