At Greenwood County Hospital, we offer infusion therapy for individuals who require either one-time or ongoing intravenous therapy for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses.   • Common Infusions

    • Antibiotics: Some infections do not respond to oral antibiotics and need more aggressive treatment. Conditions that often require intravenous antibiotics include cellulitis, a bacterial infection in the skin and tissue, osteomyelitis, a bone infection, urinary tract infections and pneumonia.
    • Blood: Anemia is inadequate hemoglobin and can be caused by bleeding, vitamin or mineral deficiency and various diseases. Blood transfusions may be needed in addition to treatment of the underlying cause of anemia.
    • Hydration and Electrolyte Replacement: Dehydration can result from prolonged vomiting, diarrhea and diseases, including diabetes. Loss of electrolytes often accompanies dehydration. Replacing water and electrolytes can help restore a proper balance while the underlying cause is being treated.
