About Our Acute Care Inpatient Services

Acute care services are primarily used to stabilize a medical condition using medication and/or procedures. The length of hospitalization depends on the severity of a patient’s illness or injury. Patients are discharged when medical care can be managed in a less acute setting.

  • What to Expect

    • Accommodations: Greenwood County Hospital has 25 patient rooms. Most of the patient rooms are private rooms but are capable of double occupancy during high census periods. For your meals, you are able to choose from a selection of freshly prepared foods.
    • Telephone and Television: Telephones are provided in all patient rooms for local calls only. Color television is available in all rooms as well. Please be considerate of other guests by keeping the volume low.
    • Mail and Flowers: Flowers and mail are delivered to your room by members of the auxiliary staff. If they arrive after your discharge, they will be forwarded to your home address.
    • Staying Overnight With A Patient: The hospital provides comfortable seating that folds flat to accommodate an overnight stay for a family member. We do encourage a parent to stay when a child is hospitalized.
  • How to Prepare

    • What to Bring: Please remember to bring your insurance card and identification. You only need a few items like toilet articles, bathrobe, slippers, and night clothes for your personal needs. You may also want to bring some reading materials from home. If you require eyeglasses, contacts or dentures, they should be kept in the drawer of your bedside table. If a denture cup is needed, a member of our nursing staff will gladly provide one.
    • What Not To Bring: Please leave your valuables and jewelry at home. The hospital is not responsible for the loss of personal items.
