Greenwood County Hospital, Eureka Clinic, and Howard Clinic have been working collectively to prepare for the arrival of the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine. We want to assure you that we are prepared to help the community move forward into the next phase of protection against COVID-19. When vaccine supply becomes available for the community, we will share the information with both our patients and community, in coordination with the CDC and Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Additionally, our healthcare team has been closely following the vaccine’s safety data. We understand there can be apprehension regarding vaccine safety. The following are key FDA/CDC highlights about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine:• The vaccine has been rigorously tested for safety before being authorized for use in the United States.• The technology used for this vaccine has been studied for more than a decade.• The vaccine does not contain a live virus and does not carry a risk of causing disease in the vaccinated person.• The vaccine components never enter the cell nucleus and do not affect or interact with a person’s DNA. In light of this safety information, we strongly recommend community members get a COVID-19 vaccine as it becomes widely available. Please continue to watch for updates regarding the timing and location for receiving the vaccine. In addition, please monitor for KDHE updates at www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov. If you have any questions, please contact your healthcare provider. We would like to express our appreciation to you as community members. Your personal sacrifice through social distancing and wearing a mask in public and shared spaces is very much appreciated. These ongoing efforts will continue to help protect members of the community, and help Greenwood County Hospital to be prepared to support community health needs. ... See MoreSee Less
